I'm sitting on the beach and zoomed in on these two guys canoeing, but what's even greater (too me) is the head of the guy in the water!

It's difficult in looking at this picture to tell how far out it might be considering they should not be canoeing too close to land, and this guy should not be swimming too far out in the water.

I thought this was a beautiful stoic picture of the "parent" bird sitting on a branch near the nest (previous photos submitted) where the baby birds were located.

These are some shots that I took both in my home town of Old Lyme (the Old Lyme Congregational Church), and in Old Saybrook. I like the lighting more in the Old Saybrook shot, but if you look closely at the Old Lyme shot, there is a beam of light in the lower right hand corner that is pretty cool!

2nd pic of my friend beth. I think in both pictures you can really see her personality. She is a very shy individual and does not like her picture being taken. Her expressions i think reflect that. Also, this picture was taken during a surprise b-day party for her fiancee, he had not yet arrived nor heard from him and she had been planning this for months. So I think that affected her mood along with her expression, she was just wondering when he would call and show up....

My models were my neice and son. They were pretty good models did not have to direct to much just kept taking pictures and since we were outside the sunlight was just beaming off of them. As you can see kids tend to just show emotions in all movements. Loved these two.

Week 7.... The Last Project!

At last we arrive at the last project... We couldn't finish a class on digital imaging without having some fun really mashing up picture elements. Go to the Wadsworth Atheneum's Painter site and create a few compositions. Experiment freely with all of the controls.... scale, transparency, copy and pasting, rotation, etc. Publish your masterpiece.

How to save your work on your computer to put it on Fotothing and post to your class blog:

The Painting application on the Atheneum site is a Java application and you can't save from there to your hard drive. Instead, you have to hit the Print Screen button on your computer's keyboard. This puts the whole image on your computer's monitor into the memory clipboard on your computer. Next open Paint... "Start>Programs>Accessories>Paint". Now paste your clipboard screen shot ("Edit>Paste"). Say yes when it asks would you like the bmp enlarged. Use the rectangle selection tool to select just your picture by clicking and dragging around it. Finally to save your image for uploading choose menu "Edit>Copy To" and name your file and choose a folder to sent it to. Browse to that folder with Picasa, double click on it, and finally export it as a .jpeg. Now you can upload to Fotothing or to post on the Blog. Fotothing only takes the .jpg format... probably the same for the blog.

It is a little involved but do it once and you'll see it isn't too bad and you'll have learned a new skill. Do yor readings on the Surrealist Movement... Don't think too hard about what you want to create... go with it intuitively...have fun!

Hello everyone!....This is my portriat photo assignment.There are two lovly kids that live across the street from me with whom I am very close with.This little baby boy is my little boyfriends -hehehe- who I babysit all the time.He is just 1 years old and is always on the go witch I guess for a boy is tipical.I decided to take these 2 wonderful children and turn them into a photo project......Seeing how there is one assignment and 2 children it will equal out to a few more pictures then the assignment asking.Anyways here is D.J. talking to a porsalen duck that was made many years ago by my mother and sits in front of our house.Every day when he comes over he goes and talks to the duck.It is very funny because D.J. will go say ducky and his sister who I might add is 8 years old and miss know it all will say "now D.J. how many time do I need to say it is not a duck it's a goose.I hope you enjoy this photo just as much as I do.....kelly

This is my sister. Eventhough I wanted the photograph to seem natural, I asked her to fix her hair in order to get some great shadows in her arms and face. She was perfect as a model and you can see more of her on my fotothing account!

Animals are much harder to photograph than people, but their poses can be much more natural. This is my cat, Meeko, sitting by the sliding glass door in mid-afternoon. I had the light positioned on just the left side of his face to add detail to his portrait.

The macro project is my favorite one yet. I took this photograph and enhanced it with a focal black and white. The shadows on the petals looked so good that I wanted to share it with the class.

In this photograph I did shoot my camera directly at the sun light.Witch was very interesting on my eyes,thankfully I had my sun glasses on.It was around 5:00 in the evening one night and I was outside in my front yard looking for photograph's to take for class.I looked up over my roof top and saw the sun setting for the evening.I thought to my self yes it is not exsactly a "sun set" however this would look great as a photograph for class.SO what do you all think,do you like this photograph image? I love how the sun is setting over my roof top of my home with creases of the sun in the photograph.I am so very happy that I took this class,I have had alot of fun along with learning a great deal in fact.....kelly
